(ThyBlackMan.com) Thomas Cromwell was the Lord Chancellor of England for much of the reign of King Henry VIII. He engineered the convictions and executions of many whom Henry wanted out of the way, including his two predecessors in office — one of whom was St. Thomas More — and even the king’s second wife, Queen Anne. When Cromwell’s son Gregory, who became sickened as he watched his father devolving from […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) Is the federal government’s history of enormous deficits proof that it can keep up the borrowing? Some people think so, and legislators sure act that way. Federal debt held by the public now equals the size of the annual economy — and is growing. Yet investors continue buying Treasury securities. No government bond sale has really failed, no one has suddenly refused to finance Washington’s spending, and no unmistakable […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) The baptism of the Holy Spirit, (Holy Ghost if you wish for it means the same thing), is a doctrine clearly taught in Scripture but it is understood differently by different church denominations. There are some who take this doctrine and make it look as if they are the only ones privy to its truth and in the process mislead their members. The Bible is quite clear that no part […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) The White House was built in part by enslaved Black people. They quarried stone, hauled materials and did skilled work. The wages recorded for their labor went to their enslavers. That history ought to haunt every occupant of the building. It also ought to sharpen our attention to families struggling to put food on the table in the capital today. The Capital Area Food Bank reports that 38 percent […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) Standing up to a bully requires more than slogans, press releases or carefully staged outrage. It requires looking power in the face, refusing intimidation and saying, plainly, no. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty has that courage. The Ohio Democrat and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus is standing virtually alone inside the Kennedy Center’s governing structure against Donald Trump’s attempted seizure of a national cultural institution. Trump has installed loyalists, […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) Perhaps, the greatest success the right-wing movement in recent years in the US, of which MAGA is a vital component, although not necessarily a dominant component, was its ability to: 1) eliminate affirmative action programs; 2) dismantle corporate set-aside programs for Blacks and other minorities; 3) defeat reforms aimed at making law enforcement less hostile and the criminal justice system more humane in its treatment of Blacks and other […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) All my radical liberal Democrat friends are acting all giddy about their prospects for victory in the upcoming Congressional elections. They have reason to be excited about their prospects. Let me state for the record that we Republicans do not deserve to be reelected to the majority in Congress in either body. Far too many of our candidates campaign as a conservatives and then vote as  liberals, but I digress. […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) Our words matter. The Bible teaches that words carry the deep power to heal, hurt, build up, or destroy. On one side, careless speech can be damaging and destructive. On the other side, words can bring calmness in the midst of chaos. Our words matter, whether we use them as a weapon to attack or a shield to protect. Our words matter because they reflect our inner conscience and […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) History yields people whose influence extends far beyond their earthly lives. They become teachers to generations they never met, spiritual companions to people whose names they never knew, and reminders that faith is not merely a set of propositions to be accepted but a way of life to be embraced. For me, one of those extraordinary figures is Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Fulton Sheen possessed a rare gift: He […]

(ThyBlackMan.com) So the Great Destructive Intra-NATO War Over Greenland Sovereignty leftish European and American media swore for over a year that President Donald Trump’s aggressive January 2025 rhetoric would ignite has … … ultimately produced a very good security deal for all three primary parties (Greenland, the U.S., Denmark). NATO and — for that matter — every nation on Earth which relies on American military and economic strength for strategic […]
